Bedrosians debuts Magnifica porcelain countertops

1of3 Sept2019 TSBB(Floor Covering Weekly) [Anaheim, Calif.] Bedrosians Tile & Stone announced its Magnifica porcelain collection of countertops, which now offers 2cm porcelain slabs and is made in the USA.

“This is the most durable, cross-functional, and beautiful countertop solution we’ve offered yet,” said Alicia Bedrosian, Magnifica porcelain product manager, who has installed the Magnifica in her own home. “I’ve been in the tile and stone industry my entire life and I can hardly tell the difference between natural stone and Magnifica Porcelain panels. At Bedrosians, we believe Magnifica is the future of porcelain.”

Magnifica is large format porcelain, offered in sizes as large as 60” x 127” and as small as 30” x 15” with thicknesses ranging from 2cm to 8mm and 6mm. The company said the organic looks are created by taking real stone slabs, scanning them and replicating them on porcelain panels. It's a solid surface that’s shock-proof, heat-proof, acid-proof and spill-proof, the company said.

Magnifica porcelain is low maintenance and easy to clean. Furthermore, because of its large size, the company said Magnifica reduces the amount of grout needed for your project, resulting in a seamless and elegant installation, which unlike natural stone.

For countertops and shower walls, Bedrosians recommends the 2cm option, which is 127” long by 60” wide. This thicker and larger size offers more surface and handles well with cuts for shower fixtures and sinks. Lightweight and easy to handle, the thinner Magnifica options can be used not only as countertops, but on floors, walls, cabinet doors, drawer fronts and fireplace surrounds. With several finishes to select from — polished, honed, and satin — Magnifica offers different looks to suit every style for every space.

Magnifica porcelain delivers colors and veining straight from the quarry, capturing the realism of marbles, volcanic basalt, industrial concrete and solid looks. The collection includes 14 colors and 3 finishes in 127”x60”x2cm.

Weighing a fraction of traditional stone slabs, the thin 6mm and 8mm panels are just as durable and can be installed over existing surfaces. According to the company, Magnifica porcelain is produced in a state-of-the-art facility with a sustainable, green, environmentally friendly process that reduces, reuses and recycles.

"As a fabricator, I definitely enjoy working with porcelain slabs — they are very easy to work with! And customers love the beauty and easy maintenance," said Tom Cotton of Perry Masonry, who has worked with porcelain slabs for several years.

Thanks to the adaptability of Magnifica porcelain to both dry and wet environments, the company said this product can be used in both interior and exterior applications of commercial or residential buildings. Magnifica can also be used as a Ventilated Facade System (VFS) or as exterior cladding for buildings, combining aesthetic appeal with thermal performance.
